PROF. ROBIN COTE University of Connecticut (Physics Department) "Ultracold Rydberg atoms and their application to quantum information" ABSTRACT: In recent years, a lot of new developments involving Rydberg atoms have taken place. From the prediction and detection of ultra-long range molecules, to the observation of the predicted blockade mechanism, to realization of quantum gates with two atoms. In this talk, I will review some of the latest results, and discuss some future investigations relying on Rydberg atoms.
