SEMINARIO DE FISICA TEORICA I Y II Titulo: W boson pair production to NNLO at the LHC Conferenciante: Grigorios Chachamis ( Wuerzburg University) Dia y hora: 11, 14:15 (Aula 6A) Resumen: W pair production via quark-anti-quark-annihilation is an important signal process in the search for New Physics as well as the dominant irreducible background for one of the main Higgs discovery channels: H -> W W -> 4 leptons. Therefore, the accurate knowledge of this process is vital for the LHC. We present the results for the two-loop and the one-loop-squared virtual QCD corrections to the W boson pair production in the limit where all kinematical invariants are large compared to the mass of the W boson. Our results are exact up to terms suppressed by powers of the W boson mass. The infrared pole structure is in agreement with the prediction of Catani's general formalism for the singularities of two-loop QCD amplitudes.
