Social Events
Participants and accompanying
persons will enjoy a social programme. Please let us know if you are coming along with anyone else
so we can recommend you activities to do in Aranjuez and surroundings
during the meeting sessions.
The confirmed social events so far are the following:
1. Sunday 29th March 2015, 17:30 h: for those arriving
on Sunday afternoon to Aranjuez, we have put together a guided tour (in English) at the historic gardens
and Royal site of Aranjuez. Later on we shall enjoy a tour of the all the good Spanish tapas bars
and restaurants in the city centre of Aranjuez. Since the meeting does not include a registration fee,
we have been obliged to ask each person to pay a 12 euros fee all included. (guided tour + gastronomic route).
The meeting point -17:30h (sharp) - will be the main door of the
NH Collection Aranjuez Hotel (Plaza de Parejas) just in front of the south façade of the Palace.
There will be a guided tour - one and a half hour - around the
historic gardens of La Isla (XVI-XVII centuries). These gardens represent
the best preserved gardens of the epoch in Spain with moorish, Flemish and Italian influences in a natural island formed by the Tagus river and one of its streams.
Be prepared for slight spring weather.
Afterwards, we shall have tapas (portions) dinner at two traditional restaurants while enjoying a guided stroll in the
historic downtown of Aranjuez. Both tapas sessions and drinks are included
in the original fee of 12 euros per person. We expect the dinner to finish by 20:30h.- 21h.

2. Tuesday 31st March 2015, 19:00 h, Public lecture (in
Spanish): Following the tradition of previous IberiCOS meetings,
there will be a Public Lecture by Theoretical Physics Professor
Carlos MUÑOZ (IFT-UAM, CSIC, Madrid)
with the title "¿De qué está hecho el Universo? de las partículas elementales a la materia oscura." at
Conference Auditorium.
3. Tuesday 31st March 2015, 21:00 h, Conference dinner :
it will take place at
"Casa Delapio" restaurant, located at the south side of Aranjuez historic centre and specialised in
local products from the splendid Aranjuez countryside agriculture.
* Price (30 euros, all included) for the dinner to be paid directly at the restaurant.
* Vegetarians and participants with special
needs are kindly requested to provide this status when registering at
the desk on Monday 30th March.
Finally, keep in mind that the Royal Palace closes on Mondays and that the visit to the Royal Palace is free (individual visits) in the following cases:
- Children under 5.
- Large families, bringing their Family Registry Book.
- Teachers/Lecturers holding teacher credentials, on private visits.
- Individuals with disabilities, showing credentials.
- Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 3 pm to 6 pm (October to March) and from 5 pm to 8 pm (April to September), free entry for citizens of the European Union, residents and holders of work permits in the EU and
Latin American citizens holding proof of nationality (national identification card, passport or driving licence) or a residence or work permit.
